Slow but steady wins the race a self-reminder for self-management

  • If we are in a hurry, we shall commit more mistakes and blunders
  • 'To be steady' in what we perform or do is most important in any case
  • We can deliver quality output, when we are slow but steady only.
  • 'We can not everything' and 'we can do something good' should be the main principles in all our actions
  • We can not know everything, but we can know certain things very well, and many times better than many others
  • We should have faith in ourselves while performing our allotted jobs
  • Self-confidence is the key in doing our jobs well
  • A confused person can hardly do anything good
  • We should have clear concepts about whatever we do
  • We should remain well-organized and well-prepared for the jobs we are assigned in our professional work-place
  • We must have inner passion to do things well
  • Passion and hard-work are the building blocks of success
  • We should stop blaming others for our poor performance
  • We should criticize ourselves instead of finding faults with others

By working harder, we produce better things in the professional work-place...

  • the fruit of hard labor is sweet...
  • certain actions may take a long time to bear fruits and hence we should have enough patience to work steadfastly towards our clear-cut objectives and goals...
  • by personal sincerity towards our duties, we can certainly build a better reputation for ourselves
  • such reputation is always long-lasting...
  • by dedication and sincerity,we can win the hearts of the right kind of people at the work place...
  • what I learnt from my past experience is that lazy people could never build a good reputation for themselves...
  • laziness is a sin on the part of anybody...
  • my laziness resulted into my failures on many fronts...
  • many mediocre people surpassed me in financial success....
  • lack of will power is another great obstacle to our progress...
  • we accept defeat before we actually fight the battles of life...
  • for minor reasons and poor emotional maturity, we lose so many friends in life...
  • for great success and prosperity, many people become so selfish ,cruel and mean...
  • we need to learn continuously to evolve as stronger and better individuals...
  • if we start learning, we become stagnant...
  • a stagnant mind has little or no future...
  • our mental dynamism defines the professional and personal progress and prosperity...
  • we should also take care of our attitudes so that we do not lag behind in latest patterns of behaviors...

Punctuality-Sincerity-Dedication(PSD) habits for personal effectiveness in daily living of a professional speaker/teacher...

  • We should try to be punctual...this depends on on our attitude towards our duties

  • We should do our home-work well for high-quality performance

  • For being in time at a place, we should start early after doing our home-work well

  • Without making the objective clear before any speech or class-room teaching, we should not deliver our speech or demonstration on anything

  • Objectives and goals are the most important elements of any kind of communication

  • Second most important component is to divide the session in time-divided sub-topics coverage

  • After covering the sub-topics one by one, we should summarize the whole topic by reviewing the key-concepts/ideas/formulae etc.

  • Final stage is concluding the topic in a few words and leaving a positive note on the minds of the audience

Reading of good books leaves a deep impression on our actions

  • Through books , mostly great scholars speak to us
  • If we read books regularly, our attitudes and actions will slowly change..
  • "Smart Leadership" is really an inspiring book for me...
  • If we can absorb and apply some of the great lessons from inspiring books and articles, we shall certainly change our age-old habits and attitudes for our own good...
  • Learning never ends...
  • Fools argue too much with others...
  • We should certainly have an urgency to speak ,about anything ,with anyone..

Life is about enjoying its many dimensions, not to take life so seriously

Lessons from the present life

  • Measured talks can improve interpersonal communication

  • We can cope up with tensions, worries and depression through spiritual living

  • A sound and cheerful mind will keep us away from majority of physical ailments

  • Yogic exercises  and pranayam (breathing exercise)  will be greatly helpful ,only when our mind is full of purity, prayer, bliss, love, and unconditional service to humanity

  • Egoism, jealousy, envy, anger, prejudices, bias, lust, dishonest, and uncontrolled desires produces extreme negative reactions in our body producing harmful chemicals and these chemicals are responsible for our sufferings from common illnesses such as insomnia, high blood pressure and high blood pressure, gastric ulcers etc.

Lessons of the day

  • Reading of good books will surely improve our mental fitness

  • The more involved we are in our own jobs, the lesser will be the unnecessary tensions and worries

  • Living with the Dale Carnegie philosophy of 'day-tight-compartments'

  • Day's planning should be done well

When something good is done with high mental concentration, we get real mental satisfaction

I have learnt the following great lessons from life

  • We should choose our company well

  • Social filtering is very important for an ordinary person like me

  • I should not have neglected Yoga and Breathing exercise in the long past

  • I should not make fun of others by using my inherent sense of humour, rather I should continue to make fun of myself

  • I should have been more about my career, rather than personal whims and enjoyments

  • I have not been able to say clear YES OR NO on many matters and to many people

  • My talents have been used by many people for no material gain on my part

  • I should have earned more money and more of the savings

'One job at a time' miracles of doing jobs better

  • If we take up only one job at a time and finish it, we find that we have become more and more efficient

  • If we are engaged in many variety of jobs at a time, we tend to perform poorly in many of them

  • Our job is to prioritize the jobs in sequence and carry out them in a day's available time

  • Over-networking with people around will distract our mind and will kill our valuable time

  • Time is called money in today's fast-paced world. Hence we should manage time well...

  • Spare time should be used in pursuing hobbies, as far as possible. Pursuing hobby will keep us mentally fresh

  • While working, we should keep in mind that the action is more important than the reputation we build up

Managerial complexity must be dealt with simple, straight-forward and common sense truths and realities

  • rapport

  • trust

  • respect for others

  • affection and inspiration

  • harnessing skills

  • producing tangible outputs

  • putting hard work at the right place , at the right time and definitely with the right set of people

Unconditional love with GOD is meant only for the true devotees: it is very difficult to explain one devotional state of mind...

  • God loves us all...
  • It requires a lot of time and devotion to realize the fact that God controls everything in life...
  • We are merely doers of various jobs and the fruits are at the Hands of God only...
  • We are just puppets in the hands of God...
  • We must make our mind ready to accept the fact that God creates all our sorrows and pleasures for us to realize the dynamical behaviors of our mundane lives...
  • We should hence try hard to seek the Absolute Truth of life and existence...
  • God is absolute and we are living in His Lap like His children...
  • Hence, it is best to live a life of childlike simplicity...
  • Simplicity brings carefree happiness in life...
  • Inject simplicity and innocence in life and see its miraculous effect on your personal life...
  • Be happy with your present, and at the same time, try to improve on priority issues in your personal life...

We should learn the speaking in ' brief but to the point' style

Experience matters

When we get crowed with problems and critical situations, it is best for one to go slow and ignore the things beyond control...

  • When we are in hurry, we tend to commit mistakes and we lose our common sense

  • The biggest asset one possesses is one's common sense and a sense of balanced thinking and thoughtful actions

  • While going slow, we have enough time in our hands to think, to revise and re-think on the fundamental aspects of our immediate future actions to follow

  • Thinking itself is an art. One we can organize one's thoughts and can decide on important matters is an exceptional person in his/her capacity

  • A manager is he or she who fails to build an environment of trust, faith and respect among his or her team members

  • If we underestimate our own abilities, we tend to perform badly in our jobs

  • Having self-confidence means 50% of our jobs are already done. Self-confidence must therefore built upon past experience only

  • Knowledge -skills-attitudes (KSA) are the building blocks of one's  state of happiness, performance, relationships and successes

  • From a series of our failures, we learn more than what we could from reading of books and magazines

  • Going slow eliminates many of unfounded fears, worries and imaginary perceptions of the world

On the journey towards personal excellence, we should give our best efforts, take risks and accept challenges

Our creativity is the greatest source of pleasure and satisfaction

  • To be creative, we do not need any capital expenditure, we need to use our brain and heart well

  • Heart is more powerful in intuitive thinking and creation, so we should do what our heart says

  • Beautiful creations take place in silence and solitude or in deep chaos

  • Life's bad situations are our real teachers....such deep lessons are not taught in schools or universities

  • Hardly anything can be taught to anyone, people learn lessons themselves. We can only help some people in giving right direction in solving their own problems created by complex personal,  social , political and economic situations

  • God only creates and destroys through human beings

If we practice self-help, we slowly develop self-confidence too, and self-confidence is essential for attaining excellence

  • How to develop self-confidence: a big question for each one of us

  • Our basic self-confidence is suppressed and subdued by the stupid actions of the clever ones

  • We should try not to fall into the trap of lowering our self-confidence and self-dignity, carefully and tactfully

  • We should have enough patience to avoid such negative and deliberate attempts by others to lower our self-dignity

  • Self-confidence only wins,when a person wins

  • Without self-confidence, we can not live a dignified life

  • Behind all our actions-small or big-there is a hidden element that lies within us as SELF-CONFIDENCE

  • We should keep ourselves prepared for the worst outcomes for all endeavours that we undertake and worst circumstances are our great teachers in life

  • A timid man can hardly win the hearts of anyone

  • We should go on strengthening our skills-set to win greater successes in life

  • Through continuous practice and hard work, we can accomplish many things that we have not yet dreamt of

  • Hence, we should worship our SELF-CONFIDENCE on a daily basis that we could achieve our short-medium-and long term goals in a planned and systematic manner

Whatever needs to be done should be done well...

  • Quality of work defines the quality and talents of a person....
  • Filtering out the non-essentials is a big managerial functions and skills
  • Non-essentials must be deleted from the brain to make space for the priority-based assignments
  • Through meditation and yoga, we should try to improve our memory and hence to executive our jobs on the basis of priority only
  • Managing others for getting things done , self-management should be done well. Personal excellence will invite followers automatically...
  • Managing the self start with physical fitness, mental soundness and spiritual development with an aim of attaining excellence
  • If we try to be perfect in some matters seriously, we shall definitely attain excellence in that field
  • To excel , we need to have total faith in our abilities, skills and knowledge
  • Learning-relearning-unlearning is a continuous process of self-development
  • There is no substitute for hard-work and focussed actions
  • For every action we take, there must be definite, objective purpose or goal

Most of the ills in our lives is self-created

  • We repeat our mistakes: that's a sin

  • We must improve continuously

  • We should be bold and courageous in all our actions: we need moral strengths to be so

  • We should plan well to do well in any field

  • Recognition comes later in life and if it does not come at all, forget it, as talents require greater talents to gain recognition and accolades

  • Money is not  the only parameter  of measuring success

  • Health is the real wealth in life, we learn the lesson from our sufferings

  • We should try to follow a greener lifestyle to feel happier

  • What others say does not matter, if we possess moral strength and courage

  • Cash-less geniuses are not respected in any society

Personal excellence requires good memory and time-management

  • We should manage time well, as we have only 24 hours in a day
  • We should maintain DAILY ACTION PLAN with hourly review for sticking to the plans
  • Plans must be converted into tangible actions within stipulated time period
  • We must have a set of positive attitudes and behaviours to excel in what we do
  • We should learn from our past mistakes and from that of others
  • Less to talk and more to do to produce practical results
  • We should be result-oriented
  • To produce results, we require SINGLE-MINDED DEVOTION(SMD)
  • To gain the quality of single-minded devotion, we must learn Breathing techniques as well as Meditation from trained experts
  • Control on our breath decides how much focussed we could be on our jobs/tasks and responsibilities
  •  We should be able to build up an atmosphere of mutual trust and faith among the team-members
  • Lesser the trust, greater is the effectiveness of the team
  • All the above points indicate that we should learn the art of SELF-MANAGEMENT
