Idiots only talk much and loud...

Empty vessels sound much.... in all situations and at all times

We must take enough time to decide:

TO TALK OR NOT TO TALK...
EXCEPT IN MATTERS OF EMERGENCY/ABSOLUTE NECESSITY....

Delicate aspects of Organizational behaviors decides the future prospect of personal growth & development

In education sector  the major factors deciding the future of a teacher can be summarized in point-form as follows:

  • being well-behaved and pleasing with students and colleagues
  • avoidance of hurting anyone
  • building rapport with learners
  • keeping safe distance from students and colleagues
  • to avoid arguments with anyone
  • keeping true focus on academics and finer points of the subjects taught
  • addressing finer issues and details with applications in the classroom
  • to be sincere and devoted for assigned jobs
  • to be involved in research in  some related research
  • to be strict at times on matters of principle
  • to maintain a balanced personality
  • to possess strong leadership qualities
  • to be assertive all the time in matters of teaching-learning process/administrative matters
  • ASSERTIVENESS & LEADERSHIP QUALITIES ARE THE BIGGEST QUALITIES

Finest self-management techniques

Management of anything requires a great deal of common-sense and concentration....Concentration is the toughest thing in one's own life, as this only attribute really decides the course of action in one's professional life as well as in personal life..

Without mental concentration, one good job can ever be done. Especially in academics, one needs a true friend in 'concentration' in most of the day's time...

Inspired by my friend Ms. Reshmi Banerjee

True mental concentration creates the following positive effects in life:

  • allowing sufficient time to understand  complex things
  • enhancing the power of listening
  • getting intuitive understanding of surrounding environment
  • creating and innovating in common affairs of life
  • power of innovation in technical matters
  • deeper understanding of 'nature'
  • creating positive atmosphere around one's own self
  • decision-making in trying situation
  • delivering situational leadership
  • mental concentration produces relaxation of body and mind and hence improves fitness
  • concentration produces the best possible solutions to the most difficult problems
  • concentration is equivalent to meditation and hence beneficial to both body and mind...
  • mental concentration generates creative ideas and produces works of art
  • the greatest works of art and creativity had been produced by deepest mental focus , courage and personal talent...

Blogging is a good pastime

Taking people,  as they look like  is really foolish....

Dynamics of human behaviors for management professionals

Complexity  of human behaviors can be utilized for better organizational performance, if planned properly. Both the Negative and positive behaviors could be tapped for variety of practical applications.

The basic as well as fundamental job of a manager  is to identify the wide variety of talents in different individuals and utilize them tactfully, in appropriate time, situations and crises.

Hence a management professional is supposed to possess exceptional skills as well as an infinite bandwidth of  thinking and taking fruitful actions....There lies the foundation of being a management professional....

Variety of behaviors at professional place is fantastically wide-ranging:

  • back-biting
  • enjoying suffering of others
  • converting inferiority complex into superiority complex by adopting dirty politics
  • playing games  in the domain of faith, trust
  • shameless selfishness
  • being aggressive if self-interest  is slightly hurt, even accidentally....
  • enjoying freedom at the cost of productivity
  • betrayal of faith in any situation
  • oiling the boss, tendency to do harm to others
  • dealing with females at work-place being most challenging job, any person aspiring to be managers should know
  • free consultancy is always harmful  for any person of worth
  • personal relation at the work-place can be extremely dangerous at times
  • continuous self-development is the only to sustain in a job
  • personal patience and anger management  are the key factors for any management
  • To decide  one should take much time, but execution should be planned one only...

Work place dynamics of human behaviors

It is never too easy to do a job. It is a complex mix of human variety that is one of the richest source of knowledge and skills. It is process of continuous learning to become a better professional and we do not need to read a book on human behaviours , if we minutely follow the colorful, complex, dirty, political and diplomatic steps taken by our respected colleagues in daily work-life.  These behaviors are guided by some of the following human characteristics:

  • extreme sense of selfishness
  • ungrateful behaviors
  • telling stark lies
  • back-biting
  • taking help and denying, forgetting, and  starting new games to harass the help in all ways possible
  • upholding self-interest & ditching others
  • playing games with faith, trust
  • taking things for  granted in matters of discipline
  • making fun about others in absentia
  • oiling

Essential Management Practices for high performance..

Well-organized Planning is essential for higher level of managerial performance. It is always better to plan, plan and plan  to do well in any assignment.
Some important parameters for managerial effectiveness:

  • discussing with friends and experts to decide
  • take time, take a break, think of various options
  • start acting-produce results-review & modify-finish and freeze the whole thing(starting & finishing in time is hence very important, without keeping things in hanging condition)
  • use of brain and keeping cool about various optiions is essential  and then go for the best option
  • 'One job at a time' will always improve efficiency
  • priority-based 'one job at a time' will do the miracle for everybody

Continuity in self-developmental activities

It is really difficult to be focused on self-improvement activities, and hence it is better to force one's own self in engaging in such discrete activities for a definite period of time on a daily basis. To create self-motivation, continuous mental efforts are essential and for that we need to see a big picture of our definite aims for improvement areas.

My big aims for recent times has been:

  • to evolve as a reasonably good teacher, with focus on interactive teaching methods on specialized subjects
  • to evolve as a good writer on my favorite subjects
  • to be in top physical fitness by doing daily exercise of one and a half hour
  • to undertake hard work for completion of my PhD project report by devoting a few hours on a daily basis

Review of lifestyle...

Life is to be slowed down more....
Teaching should be coupled with research on related areas...
One can not be master of all subjects and hence super-specialty should be developed ...
Health is the biggest wealth of life...I now realize

worries can be sent to Recycle Bin...

Yes, we can do it just by keeping ourselves as clean and honest as possible and by being choosy about networking with the society.
How can try to implement this in practice:
1. most of our worries originate from deep-rooted fear in the mind, to be fearless we must be honest to the core
2. ethics and legality really matter in life
3. too much of talking involves too much of telling lies
4. silence is a great cure for life's problems
5. hard work is the medicine for a better living
6.talkativeness is the source of all interpersonal ills
7.money matters in practical life, it is not be wasted and hence should be saved for hard times
8. tough times never last, but tough people do
9. physical toughness can be gained from regular exercise and a balanced diet
10. mental toughness comes from honesty, integrity, power of analysis and technical skills
11.whatever needs to be done, should always be done well only
12. life is transitory, and hence it is better to converge our thoughts on a specialized domains only
13. self-advice, self-training and self-leadership, continuous quality improvements  are the biggest techniques to influence others positively

attitude towards life-long learning

A really positive attitude towards life-long learning can be a great boon in one's life. In this regard, self-vanity and arrogance are the main barriers. These obstacles can be overcome by self-training and self-improvement practices on a daily basis....The major milestones for the philosophy of life-long learning  are as follows:

  • we can learn from anyone...senior,junior or younger people
  • life is an open book and hence by seeing things around us we can learn a lot of things without reading any book or taking any training course
  • experience of the older ones when coupled with energy, creativity, enthusiasm of the younger ones can do a miracle for the society
  • values and ethics should be given highest priority in real life...
  • our brains are the laboratories could manufacture great ideas and then we need management techniques to implement those ideas in practice
  • we are basically forgetful and hence important ideas should be reinforced from time to time through various means of discussions and debates
  • we should be flexible in absorbing new ideas and modify our own ideas from time to time....
  • scholarly works and researches should have special social impact and contribution....
  • life-long learning can keep us young at heart and physically, mentally more energetic
  • things learnt must have applications in real life
  • we also learn a lot of things by doing manual work and hence we should it regularly
  • we can not do everything in life and whatever needs to be done should be done well...
  • we should take up one job at at a time
  • we should be able to tolerate criticism of any kind and should possess enough patience to pursue our own goals by ignoring things that we can not change....
  • We basically learn by doing
  • if we derive pleasure out of our daily works, we are simply the blessed ones

It's never easy to remain focused...

Major distractions are caused by:

  • personal lethargy and laziness
  • human networking that might cause stress of any kind
  • difficulty of concentrating on ONE JOB AT A TIME(OJAAT)
  • waste of time by thinking too much about what 'others' say about the self...
  • bad habits and addictions of various types
  • having least ambitions/dreams in life
  • being unable to say NO when it is required/essential
  • inability to play games as per real-time needs
  • not doing fitness works regularly and being unfit for public/social services
  • revealing personal secrets and worrying about that
  • not being TOUGH, when it is required

Teaching_learning & achievement of excellence

Even after 19 years of teaching experience, I can hardly say that I have evolved as a good teacher. But certain self-corrective actions could produce good results. More preparation on the subject matter would place me as a better teacher. At least 2 hours of self-study is needed for bettering  content-delivery. A teacher should always be passionate about teaching a topic and start a topic with most interesting 'introduction'.. Class-room management is the biggest challenge in the life of any teacher. Class-room management starts with a pleasant, respectful and dignified ambiance within the class-room and such an ambiance is solely the creation of extraordinary leadership quality, art of rapport-building and teaching ability on the part of the teacher.  My recent experiences say that a teacher should also be a good administrator as well as a researcher. This abilities together make a good teacher.

I need to sharpen the above-said qualities for my own satisfaction and for my own growth and development as a teacher.

I sometimes feel that I am in the right profession, and today's world of education has changed drastically and hence it is difficult to cope up with the enormous changes in culture, attitudes, economy, and political influences on life and lifestyles. All these changes originate from 'consumerist' attitudes towards lifestyle. These are hence the reasons for apathy for VALUES AND ETHICS in life and society....some people simply make fun of VALUES AND ETHICS...some people seek the shortest path to success and prosperity and create examples before others for making 'greed' a part and parcel of their lives.....

Colors of life..

Life can be compared to rainbow....seven different colors in togetherness...or 7000 colors..no end to that as we progress in life

Now
as a father,
as a husband,
as son-in-law,
as brother,
as a child and grandchild,
as a teacher
 as a learner
as a professional
as a friend..

lastly a lonely man walking with numerous waves of thoughts in brain...

I still love writing, but not managing time well

After along time, I feel like writing something for my friends. Managing time is one of the biggest challenges of modern living. Because of variety of demands of life, I am really at a loss about how to spend time well and effectively. Today I have decided that my daily time would be decided to the following domains:

1. remaining silent for continuous one hour in a day's waking hour
2. trying to perform well at the work-place  by doing at least 3 hours job
3. devoting time , thoughts and energy, min. 2 hours for writing, compting and research work
4. spending time with family members for discussion & entertainment : 2 hours
5. yoga and exercise for min. one hour
6. rest and sleep for 7 hours , beyond helping and counseling my students

There is a lot of mental stress for my failure to deliver the goods at the personal level. I blame myself for the same. WORK IS WORSHIP is the absolute truth for the material life and simultaneously, prayer to God is the only tonic for living a life beyond all logic and material considerations..... WORK WITH PLEASURE should be the guiding principle for me. Environmental factors and other disturbances should be fought with tact, diplomacy, politics, and mental avoidance...

To do or not to do...

Life is now bombarded with new inputs and situations and the mind is distracted. The net result of the day's work is almost zero....But at the end of the day  what really matters is that one should sincerely feel 'some contributions have been made' to family, customers and the society at large....
Through constant hard work, we shall be able to delete the areas of frustration and hopelessness from the inner mind...
At the same time, we should take time to relax and reflect on the things we work with , to correct our ways of doing things....
Continuous Quality Improvenment(CQI) should be made a way of living life.....
Simplicity is another virtue of living a peaceful life...

A new thing in life....'being one's own self'

From now onwards I shall be changing subject matter of writing in this blog. The focus will be on my experiences in life, especially my professional and social experiences fro last 24 years. I shall be discussing things I learnt from various events of life. Some of the recent experiences are

  • it is impossible to satisfy everyone surrounding us
  • perception is a relativistic phenomenon, where different persons view the same thing in different ways, sometimes in completely opposite in perception....
  • fools only dance at the tune of everyone...
  • it is always advisable to listen to the opinions of others, i.e. to be a good listener in every situation
  • tall-talkers are always non-doers
  • theory and practicals are basically north and south poles of the same magnet...
  • people are inherently selfish, but a generous heart can bring about a lot of change
  • Common sense combined with practical ideas and actions can do miracles in everyday life
  • listening:talking should in the ratio of  9:1
  • Love and respect are reciprocal in nature
  • to be rich in a short time, one must be dishonest in one way or the other
  • We should not preach others, we should preach ourselves... we should act according to the advice of ourselves

Teaching is an interesting profession

It varies from person to person. But the more we get involved in the process, our hunger for knowledge as well as content  delivery process become very very interesting. This interest keeps the teacher engaged in creative activities which generates a lot of satisfaction. Once we start liking teaching, it automatically get improved everyday. When a teacher strives for attaining perfection, he becomes a source of inspiration for the young learners.....

Management is not an easy subject...

As I have started teaching the subject of management after a long time, I am finding it difficult to teach. To create interest in the subject is really a great challenge. A thorough, well-planned  preparation  is essential to create high impact on the minds of the young minds. The subject consists of knowledge from many different fields such as psychology, industrial engineering, sociology, technology, environment, ethics, law, spirituality etc. The more I try to learn, the more areas emerge from different angle. Except the quantitative/statistical analysis or optimization techniques, Management is truly an ART. The skills of the teacher really matter in influencing young minds for improved thinking and also for attainment of newer skills. Expertise in management develops in the same process as in other sciences:
data to information to knowledge to wisdom to intuition

Facing personal challenges

When we are deep frustration or worries, we should take a long pause for personal introspection and slow thinking process. It means we should be in a silent mode, instead of being in a hurry to solve a problem. As time cures all ills, we should take enough time to find a solution. Sometimes, major part of the problem may simply vanish on its own till we intervene and try to fix up things.
BEING IN A HURRY IS ALWAYS RISKY....

Best of self-management lies in the fact: SLOW BUT STEADY WINS THE RACE..

Something is better than nothing..

On a daily basis, we should go on contributing something for some social cause...However small be the step, we should try to involve ourselves in some creative activity so that some people are benefited either through intellectual stimulating or through  a service....

Self-image building process & its impact on managerial functioning

To create a better image before others, we must first  form a strong and  positive image about our own selves. Once we have a strong positive image in our mind, the same is displayed before everyone we interact with and we indirectly exert a strong influence on others. The best way to improve our image image before others are:

1. Maintaining good health and fitness
2. A cheerful ,pleasing personality
3. A strong leader who leads by setting examples in real life
4. Motivating others by being participative
5. Appreciating good acts of others
6. Having a good sense of humor
7. Developing expertise in a special domain on a continuous basis
8. Devoting enough time for CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT(CQI)-ACTIONS
9. BEING SELF-CONTROLLED AND SELF-DISCIPLINED all the time AND TAKING STRONG ACTIONS BASED ON PERSONAL PRINCIPLES AND IDEALS

Enlightenment, as a part of living a life: experiencing DIVINITY in practical life

Biggest inspiration came to my life from;
Paramhansa Yogananda's SPIRITUAL DIARY

It should be read on a daily basis  to keep touch with the  God...
Yoganandaji's writings really takes us to a new world altogether....

Personal challenges of the present time

I am not as cheerful as I look like right now. I am suffering from lack of enthusiasm. I think that this state of lack of motivation from a series of failures on various fronts in the last one year or so. In most of the cases my luck-factor did not work for me. It happened in the long past also.

I now feel I should have read the Bhagavad Gita daily to continuously remind myself of the fact that the end results come to me on the God's wish only and there is no other way to overcome similar type of phases in my life.

I should only be focssed on my duties and jobs, and there should be greed or even aspiration for the end result. I need to correct my attitudes regarding my work.
One principle should therefore be maintained: WORK FOR WORK'S SAKE

Challenges of modern life and ways to face them..

Tenacity and determination are the qualities that solves most of the critical problems of life...
We should believe : THERE IS LIGHT  AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
&
TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST,
BUT TOUGH PEOPLE DO.....

If we have the tencity to hold on, we can overcome most of our problems...

Another big factor is taking time, taking pause and thinking deeply over a special problem, and then to come out with plausible solutions...
