Circuit Theory for your Exams

Suggested Readings on Circuit Theory & Networks for EE and ECE-B:
Books for use:
1. Rakshit, Chattopadhyay
2. P.Ramesh Babu: Electric Circuit Analysis
3. A.Chakraborty

Pl. read all articles as per the prescribed syllabus. But at the same time , put special emphasis on the following topics:

1. Solve a good no. of problems on the following network theorems: Thevenin’s, Norton’s, Superposition, Maximum power transfer theorem and Millman’s Theorem for both ac and dc electrical circuits,
2. Application of KCL and KVL for Mesh, Supermesh, Nodal and Supernode Analysis are very important( you may refer to the books by P.Ramesh Babu, Sudhakar & Palli)
3. Transient and steadystate ckt response by using Laplace transform is quite important( pl. solve variety of problems by using initial conditions)
4. In Graph Theory, stress upon the formation of Complete Incidence matrix, fundamental tie-set matrix, and fundamental cut-set matrix are very important. Also practice a few problems of drawing oriented graph from given Reduced Incidence matrix.
5. for Active filter design , you may follow the book by Ghosh & Chakraborty(TMH)
6. Fourier Series expansion (triangular, square, rectified waves etc.) and Fourier Transform ( gate signal, exponential function etc) need serious attention and practice for the exams.
7. Finding two-port network parameters, their interrelationships, reciprocity and symmetry conditions in terms of Z,Y, ABCD and h-parameters need utmost care, attention and practice.
